"Benzene Suit Filed by Widow"

June 2 , 2008

A widow recently filed a suit against Chevron USA for the alleged benzene exposure her late husband supposedly experienced.

The company that wrote her husband’s paychecks is also being named in the benzene suit.

Suit Claims Workplace Exposure

Beth Golding, a widow living in Texas, filed the suit on behalf of Eddie Golding, who recently died from leukemia.

Golding was employed at Gulf Oil, which is now known as Chevron.

During the time of his employment he reportedly used and was exposed to “toxic benzene” and as a result developed leukemia.

Defendant Accused

According to the suit, Chevron knew for decades of the risks associated with benzene and that their employees were being exposed to the carcinogen.

“The Defendant failed to take the necessary engineering, safety, industrial hygiene and other precautions needed to provide adequate warnings and training to ensure their employees health and safety,” states the suit.

Beth Golding is asking to be compensated on her husband’s behalf in the form of exemplary and punitive damages.
