
Benzene Safety"Family of Texaco Employee Files Benzene Suit" December 10, 2007 The widow and son of a former employee of Texaco have filed a suit against the company claiming that they exposed their loved one to benzene. Texaco and Chevron U.S.A., have been named in the suit. Benzene Exposure at Work Edna and George Frauenberger filed the suit on behalf of George Frauenberger who was allegedly exposed to benzene during his employment at Texaco and Chevron facilities. “As a result of such exposure, George Frauenberger developed Myelodysplastic Syndrome, from which he died a painful and terrible death,” says the suit. The suit also says that the defendants failed to take precautions to provide adequate training for their employees to prevent them from being exposed to benzene and other harmful chemicals. “The defendants knew for decades that the chemical benzene could cause irreparable disease, but still allowed their employees to use toxic and cancerous benzene in the workplace,” explains the lawsuit. Plaintiffs Seek Compensation Frauenberger’s family is seeking claims for all elements of damages allowed to them under the law.
