
Benzene News"Family of Metal Worker Sues for Benzene Exposure" March 20, 2008 A suit was recently filed by the family of a man who supposedly developed leukemia as a result of benzene exposure. The man worked as a sheet metal apprentice at various refineries in Texas where his family claims he was exposed to benzene. Family Takes Action Lonnie Logsdon’s daughter, Sally, has filed the suit against Chevron USA, Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., and Gulf Oil Corp. Logsdon says that the companies are responsible for negligently exposing Logsdon to benzene during the time he was employed with them. Companies Accused of Negligence According to the suit, “the defendants were aware of its chemical emissions, such as benzene and products containing benzene.” It goes on to say that a large portion of these chemical emissions were unnecessary and could have been substantially reduced. Daughter Seeks Compensation Sally Logsdon is suing for punitive damages and loss of companionship on behalf of her and the rest of her family.
