
Benzene News"Laborer Files Suit for Benzene Exposure" February 14, 2008 A man who discovered the dangers of benzene through a television commercial recently filed a suit against his former employer for his current illness. The suit claims that the plaintiff was exposed to benzene while he was employed with the company and as a result is now living with acute myelogenous leukemia. Suit Filed Against 11 Corporations Steve Ivlocvcic, who used to be a machinist and tool and die maker, filed the benzene suit against 11 different corporations. “Steve did not know the products he was exposed to at work contained benzene, or that benzene could cause acute myelogenous leukemia, until he saw the facts in a television advertisement,” explains the suit. Exposure at Work Ivlocvcic says that during his employment at Johnson Motors, he was exposed to benzene, which was contained in the products manufactured and sold by the company. Among the other defendants are BP Products North America Inc., BP Amoco Chemical Company and Exxon Corporation. Seeking Compensation Ivlocvcic is seeking compensation for the disease and has developed as a result of his exposure.
