"Fuel Leak Suit in Goshen Underway"

March 13, 2008

According to reports, residents in Goshen could be receiving their compensation checks for the fuel leak that occurred more than a decade ago soon.

In the suit, landowners claim that because of the leak, they have suffered from emotional and physical problems.

Benzene Released

The suit claims that 7-Eleven Inc., MDK Corp. and ENSR Corp., are responsible for the petroleum that supposedly leaked from underground storage tanks at a local gas station.

Residents claim that as a result of the leak, they have been exposed to benzene and other harmful chemicals.

The release reportedly occurred in 1996 and MDK was liable, and another release followed in 2001, under the responsibility of 7-Eleven.

Residents Make Claims

Residents of Goshen claim that the companies failed to notify them of the release, which caused petroleum to leak into the groundwater and soil in surrounding neighborhoods.

Officials say that residents who can prove that they have directly been affected by this release will be compensated for any injuries they have endured.
