"Family Files Benzene Suit"

April 24, 2008

The family of a man who was employed as a press operator for 45 years has filed a suit against his former employers.

The suit claims that the man was wrongfully exposed to benzene throughout the course of his employment.

Family Takes Action

Neil Kelly was reportedly diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia and died shortly after his diagnoses.

His wife, Carolyn and their children, decided to take action against his employers who they believe are responsible for his illness and wrongful death.

Lawsuit Claims

Amongst the companies named in the lawsuit are:

  • Safety-Kleen Systems Inc.
  • Flint Ink Corporation
  • Sun Chemical Cor`oration
  • Chevron USA Inc.

The suit claims that Kelly was exposed to toxins and carcinogens, including benzene, while working without his knowledge.

The family claims the companies manufactured and sold products containing the harmful chemical and were negligent for not making their employees aware of the potential risk.
