"Family Files Wrongful Death Suit"

May 5, 2008

A family in Delaware recently filed a wrongful death suit against eight industry vendors on behalf of their lost loved one.

The family lost a loved one, who worked as a newspaper press operator in Baltimore, to acute myelogenous leukemia.

Suit Details

Neil Kelly was reportedly employed as a pressman for 45 years and was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.

Only 19 months later, Kelly was killed by the illness.

The family claims that the companies he was employed for is responsible for his illness and were negligent to warn workers of the potential for benzene exposure.

The suit also blames defective design, manufacturer liability and malice for the sudden death of Kelly.

Defendants Blamed

Among those named in the suit are:

  • Safety-Kleen Systems
  • C & W Pressroom Products
  • Chevron USA
  • Sun Chemical

“During his employment, Kelly was exposed to toxins and carcinogens, including benzene, inks, roller washes and other carcinogens supplied,” states the complaint.
