"Estate Files Benzene Suit Against Former Employers" November 1, 2007 The estate of a man who passed away due to his exposure to benzene recently filed a benzene lawsuit. The suit states that he has suffered a great deal due to the benzene he was exposed to at work. 19 corporations were named as defendants in the suit. Lawsuit Allegations Rusty Burns was employed for various companies cleaning benzene and benzene-containing petroleum for several years before he became ill. According to the suit, Burns' exposure to benzene was foreseeable and should have been anticipated by the defendants. Amoco Oil and Conoco refiners and Helmkamp Construction are among the companies named in the suit for being responsible for Burns' benzene exposure. The estate says that the companies failed to exercise caution and safety with their employees by including benzene in their products when other substances could have been used. Man Seeks Compensation The estate claims that Burns' next of kin has been deprived of his services, companionship and love due to early death.
