Vitamin C Causes Concern Vitamin C is often added to some beverages to cater to the consumer’s desire for healthy drink alternatives. However, researchers claim that this vitamin C is responsible for the contamination of benzene. When the U.S. beverage industry became aware of the risks associated with vitamin C, most products supposedly became reformulated in the 1990’s.
