"$26K Settlement in Benzene Case" May 1, 2008 According to reports, a settlement was recently reached in the suit that claims a company was releasing benzene into the environment. The suit found the company guilty of benzene exposure and fined them for putting the surrounding community and environment at risk. Lawsuit Details The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality District filed the suit against Geofon Inc. The suit accused the company of failing to oblige with federal guidelines and violating air regulations. Company Accused Geofon Inc., which is a Diamond Bar-based firm, reportedly discharged benzene and other harmful chemicals in excess of legal levels. The release occurred at a project that Geofon was working on in August 2006.
